  • Mathias Abiodun Emokpae (PhD, FMLSCN,FCPM), is a professor of Clinical Chemistry at the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, School of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City. He teaches Clinical Chemistry (Chemical Pathology), Research Methods and Medical Laboratory Science ethics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised several undergraduate and post graduate (MSc and PhD) students.
  • Professor Emokpae had worked as Medical Laboratory Scientist at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, where he rose to the position of Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist before he transferred his service to University of Benin. His research areas focus mainly on Clinical Biochemistry with particular emphasis on Reproductive health studies, Sickle cell nephropathy and Human nutrition. His over 140 publications in peer reviewed journals and 3 book chapters contain data and analysis of the oxidative stress, burden, causes of infertility and the urgent needs to improve diagnosis and treatment of this public health issue. His publications also contain data on Sickle cell nephropathy, atherosclerotic markers, HIV/AIDS and the need for adequate nutrition in the management of Sickle cell disease patients.   • Nneka R. Agbakoba is a Professor of Medical Microbiology in the Dept. of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. She obtained her B.Sc. Microbiology from the University of Ibadan, her M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and her Ph.D from the University of Ibadan. Professionally she is a Fellow of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (FMLSCN) in Bacteriology. She is also a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (FWAPCMLS) – Faculty of Bacteriology.
  • As a medical microbiologist, she has researched extensively in the areas of mycoplasmology, microbial diagnosis, molecular biology, human microbiome and probiotics. She has published widely in these areas as co-author of several original papers and is also a reviewer for a number of top journals. She has attended many international conferences/workshops with papers presented. As an administrator, she has been a two-time head of her Department, a Dean of the Faculty, and currently the Acting Provost of the College of Health Sciences of the University.   • Godwin Avwioro is a Professor of Histochemistry and Histopathology at Delta State University, Nigeria and Visiting Professor to Babcock University. With funding support from USAID, he developed the E-Learning programme on Good Medical Laboratory Practices as part of CPD Programme for Medical Laboratory Scientists. He was part of the Ebola Disease Response Team to Sierra Leone in 2015 where he served as a Laboratory Specialist with Options Consultancy Services with funding support from the British Department for International Development. He has served at various times as Head Departments of Anatomy and Science Laboratory Technology, Delta State University. He has served in the Curriculum Development Committee and Appointments and Promotion Committee, Delta State University and Member Project Implementation Committee of Stars University, Idumuje-Ugboko, Nigeria, a University for Sports Science.
  • He is the Editor in Chief, Nigerian Journal of Science and Environment, a Journal of the Delta State University, Nigeria. He has served as External Examiner to many Universities in Nigeria and at the National Universities Commission as Team Member for Accreditation of programmes in Universities in Nigeria.
